Who We Are

Our 250-year heritage of spiritual guidance and community welfare.

Our Mission & Values

Based in the holy town of Rameswaram, Sri Thulasibaba Mutt is a sacred spiritual center that has been spreading divine light for over 250 years. Guided by the principle of 'Atithi Devo Bhava', we treat every visiting devotee as a manifestation of the divine, offering shelter, spiritual solace, and temple services.

Led by the current head, Sri Mahant Sumathi Das Ji Baba, our mission focuses on preserving ancient Vedic yajna rituals, spreading Rama Namam, feeding devotees through Annadhanam, and providing humanitarian services to the local community.

Rama Nama Satsangam: Divine Grace & Wisdom

The Taraka Mantra 'Ram' has the power to transform an ordinary human into a great being. Sages and Lords who showed the greatness of Sanatana Dharma to the world achieved higher states through the glory of this Name.

Sage Valmiki's Wisdom

Ratnakara, who was a hunter, received the 'Ram' name as instruction by the grace of Narada Maharishi, performed intense penance, and rose as Sage Valmiki. Chanting Sri Ramachandra's name continuously blessed him with the knowledge of past, present, and future. In the light of that wisdom, he created the holy epic 'Sri Ramayana' and became immortal.

Sri Hanuman's Devotion

Sri Anjaneya, possessing incomparable strength and intelligence, achieved all powers (Ashtama Siddhis) and victories by keeping Sri Ramachandra's name always in his heart. It is believed that Lord Hanuman manifests and protects devotees wherever the name of Rama is chanted.

Benefits of Attending Satsangam

Divine Wisdom

Just like Sage Valmiki, chanting the name of Rama with devotion removes the darkness of ignorance, bringing clear intellect and spiritual wisdom.

Removal of Karma

The holy name of Sri Ramachandra burns away one's sins and past karmas, adding virtue and elevation to life.

Power of Congregational Chanting

When everyone joins to sing the glory of Sri Ramachandra, that place transforms into Vaikuntha. Participating in it uplifts life spiritually and materially.

Ishta Dharma: A 250-Year Spiritual Journey That Revives the Soul

In our Bharatiya culture, spirituality does not end with worship alone. It finds fulfilment in the love and hospitality shown to fellow living beings. The Rameswaram Thulasibaba Mutt, following the ancient 'Ishta' way that predates the Rig Vedic era, has been keeping this spiritual flame alive for two and a half centuries.

Ishta — The Essence of Ancient Dharma

The 'Ishta' dharma, pre-dating the Rig Vedic era, is the symbol of 'sacrifice and sharing'. Athithi Sarkara — treating every guest who comes to your home as God Himself. This is not a ritual; it is a spiritual discipline. When food is given to someone in need without expecting anything in return, the ego ('I') dissolves there, and the divine called 'Love' blossoms.

250 Years of the Mutt's Contributions

A mutt that operates continuously for 250 years is a testimony to the purity of its service. In this long journey, this mutt has rendered invaluable service to society: Alleviating hunger through Nitya Annadhanam for millions of devotees and saints; serving as a safe refuge for wanderers and ascetics travelling on foot from Kashi to Kanyakumari; and standing as a living museum preserving the ancient Vedic 'Ishta' traditions in today's modern world.

The Spiritual Awakening of the Soul

When does a human being begin to realise their soul? 'When you give food to the hungry, not only is the stomach of the receiver filled; the soul of the giver also comes alive.' Performing even a small act of charity in a place that has done penance for 250 years reduces your karmic burden and purifies the soul. The satisfaction gained through serving others is not found in any worldly possession. This contentment is the true food of the soul.

Our Invitation

The Rameswaram Thulasibaba Mutt is not merely a building; it is a spiritual university that has been teaching love and righteousness for 250 years. Join this Vedic-era 'Ishta' dharma. Every handful of food you offer fills not only a hungry soul, but also fills your own soul with great divine light.
